Pits/Bike Wash Area
This is located just next to the tunnel where the main promenade crosses the path below the Lister Lane Car Park. There will be water bowsers just near the pits. The course is likely to be very muddy, please make it easy on yourselves by bringing plenty of water. Jet washers are allowed but must be situated on the tarmac to allow run off under the tunnel and within the marked area. They are not to be sited on the grass. No vehicles will be allowed in or near the pits.
Gridding will be in accordance with national rankings, with the exception of Elite Men, Elite Women, Under-23 Men and Under-23 Women, where current UCI rankings take precedence. In all races, the defending champion, if present, shall be called up first. Other than this, any other variation from the gridding protocols shall be at the discretion of the Commissaire Panel. The gridding order will be posted at sign-on. Please ensure that you are in the call-up zone at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time – 15 minutes for the bigger races. If you miss your call-up, the commissaires have the discretion to relegate you to the back of the grid.
Veteran Women, Veteran Men 50+ and Veteran Men 40-49 Championships
Each of these three races will be gridded and run as a single race with a single start, but with medals awarded in the age categories specified on the start list.
Under-23 Women’s Championship
This will incorporate the Junior Women’s Championship. The race will be run as a single race with a single start, with all entrants eligible for the Under-23 classification, but only riders of Junior age (born in 1998 or 1999) eligible for the Junior classification.
Lapped riders will be eliminated in Sunday’s races in accordance with UCI regulations. Unless instructed otherwise, riders who are lapped should continue to the point where the commissaires indicate that lapped riders should withdraw from the course. At the discretion of the commissaires, the 80% may be applied Under this provision, any rider whose time is 80% slower than that of the race leader’s first lap will be pulled from the race at the point indicated by the commissaire panel. Eliminated riders will be classified in accordance with the order in which they are withdrawn.
In Saturday’s races, lapped riders shall continue until they cross the line after the race winner has finished, and shall be classified. In exceptional circumstances, the commissaires may withdraw a rider who is about to be lapped by the race leader as he/she approaches the finish of the race. Again, any rider so withdrawn shall be classified.
Prize money will be paid after the event by bank transfer. To do this we will need your account name, 8 digit account number and 6 digit bank sort code. If you provided this information for National Trophy events earlier in the season you do not need to do so again.
Medal presentations will take place at the BC podium truck immediately after each race. Please ensure that if you are in the top three in your race, or sub-category, or where appropriate, are a member of the winning team, that you make yourself available so that the presentation can go ahead promptly.
This will be provided by two catering companies with additional coffee vans near the start.
There are toilets in the changing rooms and two blocks of 4 Portaloos situated at two locations within the park.
